My Occupational Therapy (OT) Approach
My practice is centered around enhancing functional motor development for children and helping them achieve their therapy goals within a culturally sensitive environment. I am committed to providing high-quality outpatient pediatric occupational therapy services that encourage children to engage in enjoyable and meaningful activities to reach their developmental milestones. I strongly believe that involving families is crucial to help children reach their full potential, and I create practical activities for families to do with their children at home between therapy sessions. Children may encounter a range of challenges in their physical, cognitive (academic), and social-emotional development in both academic and daily life. These challenges can include limitations in fine and gross motor skills, visual-motor coordination, play skills, pre-writing or handwriting skills, reading, writing, and/or calculating abilities, as well as difficulties with self-regulation and visual attention. Social interactions can also pose challenges, as can executive functioning, which includes memory, time management, and organization. Additionally, self-care skills, such as feeding and dressing, functional mobility, and community management, such as transportation, grocery shopping, and financial management, can be challenging for teenagers. I offer therapy services in the comfort of your own home, where your child feels most comfortable. Goals for therapy are based on a comprehensive assessment, and sessions can be conducted in English and/or Chinese to address your child’s specific developmental needs. Each session builds on the previous one using evidence-based approaches and interactive games, books, and activities. As new skills are taught, parents will be given suggestions for ongoing practice at home to ensure progress continues outside of therapy.
